Dissertation

Dear Sujan and Bishnu,

I think you are interested to work on 'Interaction in the Interstellar Medium'. This area is relatively old but a bit challenging because of many works have been already carried out. Still there are many unsolved issues regarding star formation in the interstellar medium. The possible title of your dissertation will be

Distribution of Planck Function in the Low Latitude Far Infrared Nebula
OR
Thermodynamical Study of the Supernova Remnant at 65, 90, 140, 160 micron AKARI maps

Go to these key words in google at first and then to the ADS Abstract Service and write down literature review (2-3 pages). Try to understand its meaning. I will discuss with the objectives and describe the methods later. As soon as you complete literature review, we will meet.

Your objective will be as follows:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
>> You need to discover 2-5 far infrared nebula or supernova remnant at 90 and 140 micron AKARI maps
>> You need to cross check in the ADS to verify its new-ness
>> You need to check it on IRIS maps at 60 and 100 microns.
>> You need to calculate dust color temperature and hence Planck function of each pixels in IRAS and AKARI both.
>> You need to deduce formula for AKARI wavelengths
>> You need to compare the differences in the temperatures and interpret it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You need to work on FITS images of 2-4 far infrared nebula or 1-2 supernova remnant, using ALADIN

Dr. Ronald Weinberger (Innsbruck University, Austria) and Dr. Ajay Kumar Jha will be your co-supervisor. Dr. Weinberger is expert in the field of Infrared Nebula, will provide his comments while writing a paper.

Here I am attaching a few proposals (your seniors).

Best wishes!
