Astrophysics II and PP Class (Group A)
Dear Fourth Sem students,
I will take Astrophysics II class during 12:00-13:00 and Particle Physics class to group A during 13:30-14:30 today.
Yesterday I took PP class to group B. I derived Faxen & Halzmark formula (scattering amplitude using Bauer's formula) assuming finite range potential (real one) and elastic scattering. When we calculated total reaction cross-section, we come up with interesting conclusion named as optical theorem. This theorem advocates the possibilities of total scattering cross-section in the forward direction. Due to this, there might be a possibility of complex potential, leading inelastic scattering in which reaction (nuclear) can not be avoided! We have calculated reaction cross-section as well.
In Astrophysics class, I will discuss CNO reaction and triple alpha process. Find pdf file of astrophysics class here.
